On this page
Most creator deals live in more places than anyone admits. The status is in a spreadsheet, the quote is in an email thread, the signed PDF is in a shared drive, and the usage window is in someone's memory.
That works until a deal involves three creators, a revised quote and a licence that quietly expires. Then nobody can say what is in play, what it is worth or what a brand is still allowed to do with the content.
The Deals module is Knoto's answer to that. It is built for creator agencies and brands, and it sits next to Roster so a deal can point at real creators rather than names typed into a cell. Here is what is in it today.
A pipeline in three views
The pipeline at /deals/pipeline shows the same set of deals as a Kanban board, a list or a Gantt timeline. You switch views from the header.
- Board: drag a deal between stages, and collapse columns you are not using.
- List: a sortable table for when you want to scan and sort.
- Gantt: deals laid out against time, so overlapping due dates are visible before they become a problem.
Every deal opens in a quick-view without leaving the page, and each one has its own link you can share with a teammate.
Stages that match how you work
Pipelines differ between agencies, so the stages are yours. Each organisation can add, rename, reorder and recolour stages from a Columns control on the pipeline, and mark which stages mean won or lost.
Each stage also carries a close probability. Knoto uses those to produce a probability-weighted forecast, grouped by stage and by currency. Totals are never added across currencies, so a deal in pounds and a deal in dollars stay separate.
Quotes with a live A4 preview
The quote builder at /deals/quotes puts the form on one side and the client-facing A4 document on the other. The document updates as you type, so what you see is what the brand receives.
Inside a quote you can:
- add line items for the work and any fees, such as agency commission
- see a breakdown of the subtotal, fees and the client total
- attribute each line to the creator who delivers it, so splits are traceable
Quote numbers are assigned per organisation. When you are ready, you send the quote to a brand contact by email. The brand gets a read-only link, and the quote is recorded as sent. If terms change, you revise it rather than overwriting what the brand has already seen.
Deals with more than one creator
Real campaigns rarely involve a single creator. A deal in Knoto has a primary creator plus any additional creators, and all of them show as an avatar stack on cards and rows.
Search follows the same logic. Looking up a creator's name finds every deal they are attached to, not only the ones where they are the lead. The same goes for filtering by creator.
Usage rights that do not lapse quietly
Usage rights and exclusivity get their own log at /deals/rights. A record holds the platforms, territories, usage scope and a licensing window, and it links back to the deal and contract it came from.
Status follows the dates:
- Expiring soon and renewal due flag a window that is about to end.
- Perpetual is for rights with no end date.
A daily job checks for rights approaching their end date and sends notifications to the bell in the app. It is a reminder system, not a legal opinion, so keep the contract itself as the source of truth.
The overview, and where Ally fits
The Deals overview gives you the state of the pipeline at a glance, including suggested next actions such as a quote that has gone quiet or a right approaching renewal. These are prompts to look at something, not decisions made for you.
Ally, the assistant inside Knoto, can also read your deals, quotes, contracts and rights, which we cover in a separate post.
What's next
Deals is live in Knoto today, and you can see the module in more detail at Deals. Campaigns, Scheduler, Pay and Insights are on the roadmap, not live. The plan is for a signed deal to flow into those modules without anyone re-entering it, but that is a direction, not a shipped feature.
