Meet Ally: an assistant that works across your roster and deals

Ally is the assistant inside Knoto. It reads your roster, deals, quotes, contracts and rights to answer questions. Here is what it can do, and what it cannot.

Creator teams already have plenty of places to ask questions: spreadsheets, inboxes, chat threads, a colleague who remembers everything. The trouble is that the answer usually sits in a different tool from the question.

Ally is the assistant built into Knoto. It works from your own workspace data, so when you ask about your roster or your pipeline, it looks things up instead of guessing.

This post covers what Ally can do today, and just as importantly, what it cannot.

What Ally can read

Ally uses a set of tools that read your organisation's data. It has read-only access, which means it can look things up but cannot change anything.

Roster

  • Search creators by name, handle, niche, status, availability and rate limits
  • Open a full creator profile, including rates and recent deals
  • List segments, media kits, brands and contacts
  • Report on the roster as a whole, such as how many creators you have

Deals

  • List and filter deals by stage, brand, creator, owner, value or due date
  • Open one deal in full: stage, payment terms, deliverables, linked quotes and linked usage rights
  • List quotes and open one with its line items and fee breakdown
  • List contracts, usage rights and deliverables
  • Summarise the pipeline per stage, with deal counts, total value and probability-weighted value

Help

  • Search the Knoto help content to answer how-to questions, and check which integrations are connected

Deals tools respect the same access as the rest of the product. If you do not have access to Deals, Ally will not hand you deal data.

Questions that work well

Ally is most useful when a question spans more than one place. A few examples:

  • "Which creators in our wellness segment are available this month?"
  • "Summarise my pipeline."
  • "Which quotes should I chase first?"
  • "Which usage rights expire in the next 30 days?"
  • "What is on the Creator A deal, and who else is attached?"

Because the pipeline numbers come from a dedicated overview tool, totals are grouped by currency and are not added across currencies. Money is read back in the units your workspace uses.

Drafting with real context

Ally can also help with writing, such as a pitch or an outreach message. Before it drafts for a named creator, it is set up to load that creator's profile, so it works from the platforms, followers and rates on file rather than inventing figures.

It will ask a question if the brief is unclear, for example when you have not said which brand or campaign the message is for. Treat what it writes as a first draft that you edit and send yourself.

Search, in a different place

Separately from Ally, Knoto has a global search in the header, opened with Cmd+K or Ctrl+K. It finds creators, and in the Deals module it also finds deals, quotes, contracts and rights. It is a fast way to jump to a record when you already know what you are looking for. Ally is for questions that need an answer.

What Ally cannot do

We would rather be plain about the limits.

  • It cannot take actions. Ally reads data. It does not send quotes, move deals, change settings or complete connections for you. For setup questions it points you to the right screen and tells you the next step.
  • It can be wrong. It is designed to use only what its tools return and to say when a search finds nothing, but any assistant can misread a question. Check anything that matters before you act on it.
  • It is limited by your data. If a creator has no rates on file or a deal has no due date, Ally cannot make them up.
  • It does not replace your judgment. It will not decide a rate or approve a contract.

Ally can also keep long-term memory of preferences you give it. You can review that in your settings.

What's next

Ally works across Roster and Deals today. Campaigns, Scheduler, Pay and Insights are on the roadmap, not live, so Ally has nothing to read there yet. As modules ship, the aim is for the same assistant to work across the whole connected workflow, but we will only describe what exists when it exists.

If you want to try Ally on your own roster and pipeline, join the beta. You can also read how the pipeline, quotes and rights work in Deals.
